So much to be thankful for — especially that I could share a really fabulous Thanksgiving meal nearby with my Bama college roommate and longtime friend Bette and her family.
And for those of you celebrating, I hope your day was fulfilling as well.
I’ve become aware how I am especially thankful we are pretty much done with the craziness of the political campaigning.
I am especially relieved to no longer feel violated by the onslaught of all the offensive and shaming emails and text messages I was receiving daily.
Maybe it’s because I grew up feeling hurt and shamed and denigrated so often that I guess I sometimes tend to over-react.
However, I was so offended by what was feeling like a never-ending whirlwind of guilt-tripping political messages urging me to donate and to vote:
“Rush in $15 ASAP”
We texted you last week . . .”
“We texted you yesterday . . .”
“We've asked you at least 3 times this month to confirm your party status!”
“We asked 6 TIMES if you support candidate________ but you did not complete the poll?!”
“We've asked you at least 10 times if you endorse ________!”
“Why did you ignore us?!”
“Not mad, just disappointed! Why are you ignoring our 500% MATCH to boost our ads?”
“We cannot BELIEVE you’re canceling?!?!?”
“You're NOT voting in 2024!?”
Geeze - So Offensive!
That last one irritated and offended me the most.
Of course I planned to vote! - I have never missed participating in a primary or general or special election since I was old enough to vote...
So I was especially offended at being accused of not giving a sh-t..
Yep, I guess you could say I was taking it personally!
So I’m wondering if this is just me and my own touchiness about feeling shamed by this kind of campaigning?
Have you, too, had similar reactions to these kinds of over-the-top pleas for political contributions?
Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences . . .
